pascALEjandro is the « spiritual child » of filmmaker, poet, comic writer, creator of psychomagic Alejandro Jodorowsky and painter, photographer, stage and costume designer Pascale Montandon-Jo-dorowsky. It is also an extraordinary collaborative body of visual works on paper, which follows a precise methodology : Alejandro Jodorowsky draws the lines, and places the symbols ; Pascale Mon-tandon-Jodorowsky fills them with colors and lights.
This book, bringing together over a hundred pictures of drawings, from the earliest pieces in 2009 to the most recent ones in 2017, provides an unprecedented entry into pascALEjandro, an artistic and existential creation. It constitutes a catalogue raisonné of the work to date.
Here are to be seen, in the brightest colors, in all forms, fighting Pierrots, mystical lovers, scales between love and death, playing children, magical people of age, crowds turned down, images from West and East.
The first names of the spouses are united by ALE, the three letters they have in common ; and this symbolic creative nucleus stands for a humane, passionate conception of love and life. This conception and its artistic manifestations are explored by many contributors, scholars, writers and curators, from poetry, philosophy, film criticism, art history and literature.
