Émouvoir, sensibiliser et partager dans l'espoir d'un monde plus responsable : telle est l'ambition du Festival Photo La Gacilly. Depuis plus de vingt ans, il célèbre une photographie engagée, réceptacle d'une énergie positive, capable de remettre en question notre regard sur le monde.
L'édition 2025 met à l'honneur le Royaume-Uni, terre d'excentricité et de contrastes où traditions et modernité se côtoient. Les artistes britanniques présentés cette année offrent un regard singulier sur leur société : entre ironie subtile, esthétisme assumé et critique lucide. Leur travail explore les enjeux sociaux, identitaires et environnementaux avec une sensibilité propre à leur culture.
En écho, l'autre moitié de notre programmation invite à repenser notre lien au vivant, face à l'urgence climatique et à la fragilité croissante de nos écosystèmes.
Ce catalogue So British ! témoigne de cette diversité de points de vue et prolonge l'expérience d'un voyage visuel aussi surprenant qu'essentiel.
To move, to raise awareness, to share - in the hope of a more responsible world : this is the ambition of the Festival Photo La Gacilly. For over twenty years, it has celebrated the work of socially engaged photographers - a powerful medium capable of challenging the way we see the world and carrying a positive, transformative energy.
The 2025 edition shines a spotlight on the United Kingdom, a land of contrasts and eccentricity, where tradition and modernity coexist. The British artists featured this year offer a unique perspective on their society - blending subtle irony, bold aesthetics and clear-eyed critique. Their work explores social, environmental and identity issues with their own British sensitivity.
In parallel, the other half of our programme invites us to rethink our relationship with the living world, in the face of climate urgency and the growing fragility of our ecosystems.
This So British ! catalogue presents these diverse viewpoints, extending the experience of a visual journey that is as surprising as it is essential.
