Résumé

Le peintre anglais revient sur son parcours, ses sources d'inspiration et son art. ©Electre 2026

Sometimes an image comes first. Sometimes it's the words. Sometimes I want to find a way to include a certain word - for instance the word clandestine which I used in my drawing of cowboys discussing Jane Austen. Sometimes I become fixated with certain words : tofu being an example. Finding these specific words is like dropping a bomb into an otherwise mundane sentence !

Face to Face

It's as if there were no longer a common regime of intelligibility between the text and the image, as if they were letting each-other down ! A kind of failed short circuit : the text doesn't caption the image ; the image doesn't illustrate the text... And so, what does this gap between the two mean to you ? What does this coexistence without syntax mean ? There is no possible connection ; it's no longer possible to relate the image and the text... The image doesn't correspond... There's no way to fix it !
