Ces photographies ne sont pas ordinaires, et c'est en toute conscience que le photographe a voulu nous dérouter, nous donner à voir ce qui ne se remarque pas, ce qui n'a pas d'importance. L'addition de ces détails infimes, de ces beautés cachées, de ces riens qui illuminent le quotidien le plus banal, c'est ce qui donne à London, nothing new un charme indicible. Olivier Meyer est né en 1957, son travail s'inscrit dans la continuité de la photographie humaniste avec les règles et les moyens matériels issus des contraintes d'origine : Leica, films et tirages argentiques noir et blanc.
The photographer has quite deliberately chosen to show us things we were not looking for, and which we probably would not have seen ; things we don't notice, things that don't matter. The photographer's talent is to see the unseen : to capture these tiny details, to search out hidden beauty, to show the most banal everyday existence in a new light. That is what gives « London, nothing new » its unique charm. Olivier Meyer was born in 1957, his work is in the tradition of humanist photography with the material used originally : Leica, argentic black and white films and prints.
