Arthur Rashkovan et Matt Olsen, le premier israélien, le second américain, sont tous deux surfeurs. Ils sont à l'origine de la création de Surfing for peace en 2005 qui œuvre pour le rapprochement entre surfers israéliens et arabes. 1779 Le capitaine James Cook accoste à Hawaï et découvre que les indigènes glissent sur les vagues debout sur des planches de 2 à 7 mètres de long. Les Hawaïens appellent cette pratique le he'e nalu.

1947 Approbation par l'ONU du plan de partage de la Palestine en trois entités : l'État juif, l'État Arabe et la ville de Jérusalem, placée sous contrôle international.

1948 Déclaration d'Indépendance de l'état d'Israël.

1956 Dorian Paskowitz arrive à Tel Aviv et devient le premier surfeur d'Israël.

1994 L'Organisation de Libération Palestinienne obtient la gestion de Gaza. Début de la construction de la barrière de séparation avec la bande de Gaza.

2005 Création de Surfing for Peace par Dorian Paskowitz et Arthur Rashkovan.

2006 Le Hamas remporte les élections législatives en Palestine.

2007 Arthur Rashkovan, Dorian et David Paskowitz se rendent au poste frontière d'Erez, entre Israël et la bande de Gaza et distribuent quelques planches aux surfeurs palestiniens. La même année, le Hamas prend le contrôle de la bande de Gaza.

2008 Matthew Olsen crée le Gaza Surf Club.

2009 Alexander Klein tourne God Went Surfing with the Devil.

2010 Les membres du Gaza Surf Club reçoivent leurs nouvelles planches.

1956 Dorian Paskowitz arrives in Tel Aviv and becomes the first surfer of Israel.

1994 The Palestine Liberation Organisation obtains administration over Gaza. The Gaza Strip barrier is constructed by Israel.

2005 Dorian Paskowitz and Arthur Rashkovan, among others, start Surfing for Peace.

2006 Hamas wins a decisive majority in the Palestinian Parliament.

2007 Arthur Rashkovan, Dorian and David Paskowitz go to the Erez frontier, between Israel and Gaza, and provide surfboards to the Palestinian surfers. The same year, Hamas takes control of the Gaza Strip.

2008 Matthew Olsen starts the Gaza Surf Club.

2009 Alexander Klein films God Went Surfing with the Devil.

2010 Gaza Surf Club members receive their new surfboards.
