24th Report on Product and Price Cycles and Trends

In October 1860, the sacking and burning of the Summer Palace symbolically marked the end of the Middle Empire's splendid isolation and the beginning of a Chinese decline that did not really end until the death of Mao in 1976. One hundred and fifty years later, as the doors of the Universal Exhibition of Shanghai open, the time for the Renaissance of the Summer Palace has come.

Our title, « The Rennaissance of the Summer Palace », is a good summary of our CyclOpe 2010 report as China has been the key player of 2009 and 2010 in practically all the major world markets that CyclOpe analyses, ranging from copper and soya to art and coal.

But CyclOpe 2010 is also the exhaustive follow-up of the economic climate of the world's great markets, the doubts about the dollar, the setback of the Copenhagen conference on climate change and the first months of Obama's presidency, to name a few.

CyclOpe is produced by an international team of more than fifty researchers and professionals under the direction of Philippe Chalmin, Professor of Economic History at the University of Paris-Dauphine, and translated into English by a seasoned team of editors, writers and journalists.

What the press said about the 2009 CyclOpe Report:

« The Bible of raw materials »
Le Monde

« The ultimate reference for world markets »
L'usine nouvelle

« More precise and richer every year. The analyses of the 47 experts provide precious insights in addition to an evermore human vision of the major issues facing our planet »
